Maximized

Skirt: hand made (similar), Shirt: Old Navy (on sale!), Shoes: Steve Madden (similar), Bag: Kate Spade (similar), Belt: H&M (similar, similar), Necklace: H&M (similar), Watch: Kate Spade, Bracelet: GroopDealz (similar)

Being tall makes really hard to find maxi skirts that are long enough. They always fall at that awkward length that's too long for a midi skirt, and too short for a maxi. Last summer, I kept seeing these long and flowy pink skirts everywhere. Problem was, they were either too short for me, or too expensive. So being the stubborn resourceful person that I am, I decided to make my own. In hindsight, I probably should have paid $100 and saved myself the trouble. Oh well! I still love it and was so excited to break it out and dust if off again to kick off the summer!

Some other looks from the holiday weekend:
Left outfit: Shirt: similar, Jeans: similar, Sandals: similar, Necklace: similar, Watch: Kate Spade
Middle outfit: Skirt: JCrew Factory, Shirt: JCrew (on sale!), Shoes: Jack Purcell, Bracelets: similar, similar
Right outfit: Shorts: similar, Shirt: Gap, Sandals: similar

Did you break out any summer looks this weekend?

  2. I have the same tall problem with maxi skirts! I love your pink one and the fabric looks great, not clingy like so many I've tried on! I love your other outfits too.

  14. I am tall too and it is so hard to find maxi skirts or dresses that are long enough :( I have a couple and I'm super weird about not drying them - I don't want them to shrink! Anyway, I love that you were so resourceful and made your own. It looks awesome!

  16. It's so nice that you can make something for you to wear that is exactly the color and exactly the size you want and need! Sometimes what you want just can't be found in the mall clothing stores! Now, if only sewing clothes were really easy and didn't give you headaches... :P

  18. I stand a 5'11" so I hear ya on maxi skirts! When I get back home to the States in a couple weeks sewing up some maxi skirts in on the top of my list because I too feel like they need to somewhat grace the floor. It's gorgeous, you did a great job!
