Hello World!

Hey there!

This blog has been inspired by two things that have become (or already were) a big part of my life: wedding planning and money (or lack-there-of).

About 2 weeks ago (May 29th, Memorial Day, to be exact) my boyfriend of 3.5 years proposed while we were in Denver for a friends wedding. It was as unexpected and surprising as a proposal could be from your long-term boyfriend. His proposal was beautiful (not that I remember much) as was the scenery. Oh yeah...and the ring! You can't forget the ring. It was definitely a day I will never forget (you know, the parts I do remember).

The bench where he proposed, overlooking the Rockies.

As with most proposals, wedding planning soon follows. And I have not wasted any time, even though we aren't planning to marry until the fall of 2013.

Already, I am confronted with the reality that wedding budgets are hard to stick to. My fiance (eeeee...still weird to say!) and I are planning to pay for this wedding mostly on our own. I know my parents have set aside some money over the years for an occasion such as this, but I don't want to ask much more of them. Nor do we want to ask his parents for help, as it is not their responsibility either.

With that said, I begin my adventure of planning a wedding on a strict (but reasonable) budget. I hope that the ideas I share with the blogosphere will inspire other penny-pinching projects!
