1. Do not use nail polish remover on your nice, wood furniture. It will completely burn off the varnish leaving a nasty, permanent stain.
2. Do not always trust Urbanspoon.
Let me explain the last one. B and I went up to Lake Norman on Saturday afternoon. We wanted to get out of the city for change of scenery. We researched a couple spots to eat lunch, and one spot stood out to us. It had 91% rating on Urbanspoon and a big deck that sat on the right on lake. How could we go wrong?

We will definitely not be going back to that restaurant for a meal, but we did enjoy a couple nice hours out on the lake, which is what we were looking for. So I guess we can't really complain too much.
| Davidson College |
The rest of the day was lovely, we hung out by the lake and explored the nearby National Park. On our drive back to town, we stopped by Davidson College and walked around. Both of us were actually interested in attending Davidson when we were in high school. It is a beautiful campus with a ton of history. But I think the high tuition and low acceptance rate kept us from actually applying.
The rest of the weekend was pretty nondiscript. And since I just finished watching Game of Thrones, I really have nothing else to say, except: What the f**k was that!?!?!?! If you watch, you know exactly what I am talking about. If you don't watch the show, just think of the craziest, saddest, most unbelievable episode of your favorite show, then multiply that by 10 and that is what we just experienced.
How was your weekend??

At least the scenery was beautiful, it definitely looks gorgeous in that picture! Bummer about the horrible service, at least you didn't let it ruin your mood :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a beautiful place to visit! There's nothing like being near the water during the summertime. I hate that happened to your new furniture. I did the same thing, but it was to Derek's side table... he was pretty mad about it and ever since then I've done my nails on a towel or in the bathroom.
ReplyDeleteAt least the scenery was pretty! I have had the same thing happen to me when relying on yelp reviews - I guess you just never know!
ReplyDeleteUgh, I had the same problem with nail polish remover. I'm still mad about it every time I look at the stain. Bad restaurant service really upsets me sometimes. It is one thing when the waiters/waitresses are just clearly busy but it is another thing when the service is terrible and the food is terrible. Sounds like the views were beautiful though! Happy Monday :)
ReplyDeletemy facebook feed and twitter exploded after Game of Thrones last night. I am still on the first season so I tried to stay off social media as much as possible (because people are dumb and say spoiler!).
ReplyDeleteps - the nail polish? yes, been there.
Haha, I have been there with the nail polish-- it's too bad it was brand new furniture!

That looks like a good trip - shame about the food though :( I spilt bright blue nail varnish on the bedroom carpet - about two weeks later I did the same to the living room carpet! Thankfully the living room stain seems to have blended in with wear but the bedroom one is still really bright! OOPS!
ReplyDeleteWe're neighbors!!! I'm in Waxhaw. I lived on Lake Norman. What restaurant were you at? Looks like maybe Joker's? I saw you on the blog hop, come say hey sometime! :)

your weather looks amazing!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Game of Thrones but my twitter feed is convincing me to check it out.
Thanks for linking up with me & Sar!
lol... and now I want to watch Game of Thrones, just because of your last sentence.
ReplyDeleteI learned the hard way with the nail polish remover also :(
Nothing pisses me off more than waiting that long for someone to take my food order. GRR. Enjoyable scenery at the least!
ReplyDeleteI watch Game of Thrones and now exactly what you mean. My husband has read the books and said nothing to me beforehand.
ReplyDeleteThe lake looks so relaxing, glad you got to go! And sorry to hear about your urban spoon, I would have requested a free meal!
ReplyDeleteUGH I hate when Urbanspoon is wrong! We had a similar experience a while back and were so pissed when we had to pay at the end. Like, do we really have to? Haha.
ReplyDeleteI am a blogger from the Hickory, NC area. My grandparents live on Lake Norman. One of our favorite things to do is to take the boat out to one of the small little islands and explore, swim, and have a picnic.
