Social Sunday

I can't believe it's already August. Where does the time go? In about a month an 17 days Fall will officially begin. I can't wait. Fittingly, today's Sunday Social topic is all about Fall.

1. What is your favorite Fall activity?
I don't know if I have just one favorite Fall activity. I just really like being outside during the fall. Here in Texas, it gets so un-Godly hot that the cooler weather is a warm welcome (that doesn't make any sense). So anything from football and baseball games, going for a run, or just sitting on the porch with a nice glass of wine sounds good to me.

2. Do you follow a football team? If so which one, and why?
I am a big football fan. I have played fantasy football with B and his friends for the last 3 years and have grown up an avid Notre Dame and Charger fan. By virtue of my very expensive diploma, I have been obligated in the past to be a Baylor fan, as well. But after last season's "miracle on the Brazos", I am 100% on the bandwagon.

It says Baylor, upside-down.

3. What is something fun about Fall in your area?
Um....the weather? Like I said before, I relish in the cooler temps. One of the things I love about our neighborhood is that there are a number of parks around that host events, such as Oktoberfest, food festivals, wine festivals, etc.

4. What are you Fall outfit staples?
Jeans, boots, loafers, sweaters, blazers, layering tops.

5. Thing you are looking forward to most about this coming Fall season?
Um...the weather! About this particular Fall season? I am planning on going home for Thanksgiving for the first time in a couple of years. Although I won't be able to be home for long, I am hoping to get a few wedding related things taken care of while I am there. Other than that, we don't have a lot of plans for the fall. This is the first time in a while where we don't have any upcoming wedding to attend or any trips to look forward to. Next fall will be a different story. :)

6. What is your favorite Fall holiday? Traditions?
Technically Labor Day is still in the Summer, right? The only Fall holidays I can think of are Columbus Day and Thanksgiving...so I guess I will go with Thanksgiving. I have to say though, its never been my favorite holiday. I haven't been home for Thanksgiving in a long time. Up until a couple years ago, my dad and I would go up to L.A. the following weekend (every other year) to watch the USC-Notre Dame game. That was one of my favorite 'Thanksgiving' traditions. Unfortunately we had to break the tradition after 20+ years because, logistically, it just became too hard to maintain.

Dad and I with family friends at the 2008 game.
UPDATE: I totally forgot about Halloween. Clearly not one of my favorite holidays except its the only time of year that it is socially acceptable to eat enough candy to put ones self into a sugar coma.

Happy Sunday!

  1. I'm heading home for Thanksgiving this year too. Although the boy & I try to split Thanksgiving & Christmas us, so I tend to be home every other year or so. And our fall plans are almost opposite because instead of planning our wedding, we will officially be finished planning (and be married!) since our wedding is over Labor Day weekend.
